FCI RECOGNITION

Objective

A central objective of Silken Windsprite Europe (SWE) is to establish a foundation for the recognition of the Silken Windsprite by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale.

Recognition should be based on a stable, traceable, and internationally coordinated development of the breed.

Current Situation

The Silken Windsprite is currently recognized at a national level in several countries or organized within corresponding breeding structures.
These national developments take place partly independently and are based on differing standards.

Challenges

The current situation is characterized by:

• differing national standards

• inconsistent breeding structures

• lack of international coordination

This makes a uniform evaluation of the breed in an international context more difficult.

SWE Approach

Silken Windsprite Europe follows a structured approach based on the following elements:

• coordination of affiliated breed clubs

• harmonization of existing standards

• promotion of data-based breeding

• integration of national kennel clubs

The focus lies on development within existing cynological structures.

Role of National Kennel Clubs

Recognition of a breed by the FCI is, in principle, carried out via the national member organizations.
SWE therefore does not see itself as an independent authority, but as a coordinating structure that:

• connects existing national organizations

• and develops a common foundation

Long-Term Perspective

Recognition by the FCI is a long-term process.
The prerequisites include:

• a clearly defined breed standard

• a stable population

• and transparent, traceable breeding structures

SWE is working towards establishing these conditions step by step.
